About Me
Angay Chandrasekar was born and raised in a Tamil family in Chennai, India. She exhibited tremendous passion for the fine arts, especially Dance & Drama even at a very young age of 5. She was a stand-out performer and grabbed the limelight in many of her Kindergarten/Elementary school plays & cultural events and was quite popular in her local community growing up. That fire which started when she was 5 still burns in her with a fervour only matched by her enthusiasm and an unending quest for creativity.
Angay went on to hog the limelight in many plays/dance shows/recitals right through her school and college days. Her claim to fame however came when she was selected to be the recipient of a State award from the former Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Dr. M. Karunanidhi for Outstanding Performance in a School Play in the year 2000. This moment would then go on to open many more doors for her in the future.
She currently lives in Vancouver, BC where she runs her dance school, 5th Door Danz Academy, teaching over 60 kids and adults on various Indian dance forms. Please visit 5th Door Danz Academy for more details.
